Granddaughter of resident

‘’From the very first day that we looked around Baycroft, I had a good feeling about it.

The manager was so welcoming and immediately put me at ease.

My grandma has recently become a permanent resident, and this has continued throughout her stay.

All the staff are friendly and welcoming to family and friends; they are constantly offering me lattes as soon as I arrive to visit! I can even bring my little dogs to visit.

My grandma requires specialist care, she can be very difficult to care for as she has dementia, and the staff have never been phased by this; they are amazing with her, have constantly met all her needs, and they do it all with a smile.

She has settled a lot quicker than I anticipated.

One nurse in particular is on the ball and is outstanding.

Moving Grandma to a care home was a difficult decision for us, and I struggled with the idea, but the staff here have made the transition as easy as possible and have reassured me at every stage.’’

Niece of Resident

‘’My uncle has been a resident at Baycroft Flitwick since October 2022.

It was an easy decision recommending Baycroft to him.

After visiting other care homes and walking out feeling and knowing I would never let him go there I walked out of Baycroft Flitwick feeling the total opposite.

The staff are lovely, and that's not just for the visit it's all the time.

The care he receives is great and he has improved both physically and mentally since being there.

The home listens to any concerns whatever they may be and do its utmost to help.

They keep you informed about what's going on, have daily activities for the residents to participate in and actively encourage them to get involved.

I highly recommend Baycroft Flitwick.’’

Daughter of resident

‘’My mother went to Baycroft for rehabilitation and the staff could not have been more welcoming.

The standard of care was faultless, cheerful and kind. The food and activities were excellent.

The care also included care for visiting relatives and friends.

Sadly, my mother had a stroke and had to leave for the hospital but when it was clear she was not to recover she returned to Baycroft for her final days which were managed by Baycroft with skill and care.

The whole family is grateful and very impressed by Baycroft Flitwick.

We recommend this home without reservation.’’

‘’Accommodation is excellent (clean, warm and comfortable).

The room has en suite facilities and is very well adapted for older people.

The staff, without exception, are caring and kind.

Medical issues have been picked up promptly and managed well.

Food is excellent and a special diet is well catered for.

Enjoys the company of other residents and participates in social activities.

Highly recommended. Gives the family peace of mind to know she is safe and well looked after.’’

Son of resident

‘’My mum was in Baycroft Flitwick for almost 2 years and the standard of care and attention she received was first-class.

The management always strives to maintain the highest standards of care.

Although my mum didn't engage in the set activities, she was always encouraged to do so.

There is much caring staff at Baycroft from carers to nurses, kitchen staff to admin, cleaning, maintenance and reception.

The staff go out of their way to be friendly and welcoming to visitors and residents.

There is a very distinct family atmosphere in the home.

We are very grateful indeed for the sympathetic and caring way in which Mum was looked after in her last days.

We would recommend it without hesitation.’’

Daughter of resident

‘’My dad died at Baycroft Flitwick recently having spent 6 months at the home.

I start with this because we were so impressed with the end-of-life care dad received.

All the staff were very attentive to his needs and we, the family, were kept informed and involved.

Dad went to live at the home after several prolonged stays in hospital left him unable to live alone any longer.

The staff quickly identified dad's likes and dislikes and his meals were tailored to the size of his appetite and his favourite foods.

Staffing levels were good, and staff would regularly pop in to see if he needed anything or just wanted a chat.

Family and friends also felt very relaxed there, able to make ourselves drinks when we wanted to and visit whenever suited us.

I was so impressed at the lengths staff went at Christmas to ensure all residents were involved and able to celebrate.

We cannot thank the staff enough for the love and care everyone at Baycroft Flitwick showed Dad.’’

Daughter of Resident

‘’My mum and dad came to Baycroft in February as they both needed 24/7 care.

The staff have been wonderful and welcomed us with open arms.

The care provided is second to none; I couldn’t have picked a better place for my parents.

Unfortunately, my dad passed after being at Baycroft for three and a half weeks, so mum is now left alone, but receiving the best care possible for someone who is bed-bound now.

The wake was held at Baycroft and the staff helped to make it a wonderful day for family and friends. I thoroughly recommend Baycroft.

Everyone is so caring; the food is good, and the rooms are beautiful.’’

Susan, Resident's Wife

''I am so pleased that my husband, Graham, has a smile on his face now, when visiting him you are met with a smile every time by members of staff they are so welcoming.

Graham is clean and looked after very well and enjoys his meals, always has a drink by his side to help with hydration and seems very happy which makes me happy too.''

ANDY, Residents' son

''Thank you so much for all your support and care for my parents Valerie & Eddie.

We as a family entrusted them to your care and attention and at no point did you not fulfill my expectations.

The staff at Baycroft Flitwick have shown such professionalism in every aspect that I’m truly indebted to you.

During this extremely emotional time I’ve felt I have done quite well to keep myself composed but seeing the staff and residents paying respect and showing love as we stopped off today on route to the crematorium..

This was the time I shed a tear and struggled to say all I truly wanted to say… a heart felt thank you

I love you all for what you have done for me and my family.

Mum & Dad are together again …

You did help give them a respectful end to their life together xxx''

Resident's Relative

“As no doubt you are aware my mum had a fall on Friday evening.

I would like to say that both Juliana and Nikki were fantastic. Juliana kept me fully informed at all times. I understand that both of them carried on working well past the end of their shift due to their concern and care for my Mum. They also both spent considerable time trying to persuade Mum to go to hospital when Mum was refusing. Fortunately, they were successful as a broken wrist was confirmed.

I certainly know that Juliana last contact with me was at 22.19.

I have managed to thank both of them but I wanted to make you aware too.

Additionally, there were also two night staff members. Due to Mum hitting her head I think we all expected Mum to be kept in overnight for observations.

However, she was discharged at 3am and I contacted Baycroft to say I was on my way back there with Mum. Within 5 minutes of me arriving back there they were able to take Mum back in to the quarantine area. They were both lovely, kind and efficient as I am sure it was a pressurised situation to have to suddenly deal with. Please pass my personal thank you on to them and apologise that I did not note their names at the time.

I am sure incidents like this can be predicted to happen but you can never predict the ‘when’ they will happen. Consequently, they must significantly add to the work load to all the staff on duty at the time. So, to all those staff who had to do ‘extra’ whilst Mum was looked after I would also like to say thank you."

" We were greeted at the door by Bernie who was very friendly and directed us to the lateral flow test station, all the staff were pleasant and everywhere was clean.

Bernie helped us round the home and directed us to where was best to set up. Everyone is doing a fantastic job and we are impressed by your lateral flow station."

Beth Sutton Testimonial for Baycroft Flitwick Regarding Essential Visits

''The essential visits are a godsend, I have had my third internal today. With Baycroft we agreed on three visits a week for two hours at a time as being appropriate for Mum.

For me and mum the screen visits weren’t working. My mum struggles with her hearing and because of her dementia she found it hard to follow the conversation and she could not understand why I could not sit next to her. The length and the frequency of the essential visits has also had a big impact.  Previously, because of the dementia she would think I had not been to see her for months at a time and would be very cross with me at the start of the visit. She would also get agitated when I had to go and she thought I could not be bothered to stay any longer.  Now however she does seem to remember that I have been and I get smiles instead of scowls. Mum could also get quite agitated in the afternoon after the screen visits but now staff have stated how much better she is  afterwards and gets a lot more out of the essential internal visits.

Now I am coming for essential visits they are brilliant, being able to sit and have a coffee with mum just makes it more normal.

Previously visits, understandably were in a ‘sterile environment’. Today I visited mum for an essential visit, I bought in nail files and I did her nails which was lovely as it felt like an activity as well as a visit. It was just such a more ‘normal’ setting which is so important for a person with dementia.  I was also able to be present for mums 2nd Covid vaccination today, this really helped as I could encourage her to have the vaccination and she was calmer as I was there.

The essential visits make communication between me and mum much better, we are able to hold hands which really benefits her, having that physical contact is so important, she is smiling and laughing a lot more which is great.

I am so pleased to be able to have essential visits as they have really benefited mum and myself. I can help care for my Mum along with the fantastic staff at Baycroft.''

Visiting physiotherapist

'“I work in a lot of care homes and the homes all have had a different approach to the last year. I have less clients than I can count on one hand that have improved or even been maintained by the care staff in a home.

I am INCREDIBLY impressed at the time, effort and work put in to the progress of one of your residents after her fall.

The staff really have done the hard work and have ensured she progresses well and prevented loss in her mobility.

Hats off to you all. You are rare and I am very impressed by you all."
