Jordan, Senior Care assistant

“ I am Jordan Green, the Senior on the night shifts at Baycroft Kempston.

I moved from Essex to Bedford in 2020, working for Baycroft since November 2021 - when I walk through the doors on shift,

I still feel like it’s my home from home! I have two daughters, one aged three and one 6 months old - being their mum is my biggest achievement in life.

When I’m not at work, I really enjoy cooking, taking trips and exercising, especially running.

I’m signed up to run the london marathon next year for Bedford Hospital Charity.

I really do love the job that I do and I’m always trying to better myself in the role, so much so that I hope to go onto University next year to complete my nursing degree. “

Kerry, Head Chef

''I am a passionate and positive chef who beams pride and professionalism in all I do.

I have been a Head Chef for 25 years and am lucky enough to have worked in kitchens across the world including Sydney, Australia and Phuket, Thailand. I have cooked for several high-profile celebrities including Sir Elton John and Princess Diana.

My versatility has been an asset throughout my career and I have adapted to different environments having worked in hotels, gastropubs, high end restaurants and now Baycroft. I even spent 6 months cooking at Yarlswood Detention Centre!

I have mentored students from various local colleges and won a national purple umbrella award with my last apprentice. I also earned and retained a rosette for 3 years whilst working at a busy local hotel where I trained ‘Masterchef - The Professionals’ finalist, Louisa Ellis straight from catering college.

These rewards are nothing in comparison to the feeling I get from delivering high quality, delicious dishes to the residents of Baycroft Kempston and seeing their smiling faces when they have enjoyed my food!

Above all, I am fanatical about cooking and want everyone to enjoy whatever dishes my team and I create!''

Before coming here, I used to volunteer at Bedford Central Club doing Bingo and organising weekly bands to come sing and I’m a people person so I love it when my Bistro area is full of residents enjoying themselves with the various activities we have going on whilst enjoying our delicious cakes.  I also enjoy puzzles and crosswords so you will often find me helping residents with their jigsaws.

My hobbies include reading (thank you Kindle Unlimited), eating Yorkshire pudding, walking my husky and going away in my caravan and I’m lucky enough to have visited some amazing places which have been recommended by some of our residents who love telling me of their adventures.  I love star gazing with my Astrophotography mad son and I am often found at 3am outside in the garden with a blanket!

I absolutely love my job here at Baycroft and I am lucky enough to work with such amazing & caring people and consider myself very lucky to be working here.''
