''Making the decision to find care for an elderly family member or a friend is often emotional and unsettling.

You need to feel confident that they will be comfortable and well cared for and my role as Customer Relationship Manager is to give you all the information and guidance you require to ensure you make an informed decision.

Working closely with families to understand their needs and the type of care they require, I will be able to offer advice on the services offered together with the facilities depending on health requirements together with financial commitments, to ensure a smooth and happy transition for all involved.

I would be delighted to welcome you for a visit and answer any questions you may have.''

Chris Pilgrim, Head Chef

''Hello my name is Christopher, Head Chef to this beautiful care home Baycroft in Great Baddow

I started my career straight away after leaving school in 1991, working in various prestigious establishments.

In 2001 I decided to return to college and study patisserie. I worked in a few famous establishments including Harrods, where I received 'The Chairman’s Award For Excellence' during my role as head of pastry in the Georgian restaurant.

I founded my own company in 2007 that supplied high-quality desserts and gateaux across central Essex. I won the award of 'New Small Business' from the 'Mid Essex Business Awards' in 2009.

I left my patisserie in 2014 to spend more time with my 3 children. I am now with Baycroft to continue producing a standard of excellence.''

Lynda Morgan, Receptionist

‘’My story is a little different from my other colleagues. When Covid hit us, I was immediately sent home being one of the shielded people in the country and then sadly was put on furlough.

Being at home alone was the most anxious time of my life. My work friend who was also in the same situation kept in contact calling me regularly through the week. We kept one another going, sharing what we heard was happening in the home.

I felt helpless and saddened about how the home had to adjust; however, I could not be there to support my colleagues and our wonderful residents.

Time passed by and I was able to return to my role as receptionist. This was a new life with PPE in place and regular tests having to be carried out, which just emphasised more how terribly fast this virus was spreading. It was so nerve-racking. Even to this day the thoughts of those days ever happening again brings a tear to my eyes.

I’m so lucky to be alive and be close with my residents who have become my family.’’

Adelina, Senior Care Assistant

''Hello, my name is Adelina Bucalaete, I come from Romania and I have always worked in retail prior to coming in England.

I started to work in care in January 2017 and I loved every minute of it since! My first job in care was for an agency in a care home with very high dementia needs, founded very challenging and learned a lot about Dementia. I then started my work at Baycroft as a health care assistant in November 2018. I started my apprenticeships with One Housing and worked my way up and learned a lot about care, more than I ever thought I would.

I now work as a Senior Care Assistant at Baycroft Great Baddow and I feel I found my way and the jobs suits my personality very well. I am aiming to start my level 4 apprenticeship in April and get myself ready for new adventures and who knows maybe a new career in care.''

Caroline Farrow, Care Assistant

''Eight years old was the first time I experienced physically caring for somebody else, my Great Aunt; that's when I realised my passion for having a positive impact on other people's lives.

Care is not just a job for me, it is who I am and what I live by. Empathy and compassion are two of my strongest characteristics so being a Care Assistant just comes naturally.

I have 9 years’ experience within the care industry and now at Baycroft I can say I have found my place. Between my colleagues and the residents, it really does feel like a home; there's always music playing, conversations flowing and smiles aplenty. There is a gentleman who, about a month ago, I started to high five every time I walked past him, until last week when he was the one to put out his hand first to high five me; honestly, that along with the smile on his face brought me so much joy and contentment.

The daily activities, mealtimes and interactions bring us all closer together, it's the little things that make all the difference. I strongly believe that if a person works their passion, then it's not really works as such and I can see this daily working at Baycroft.''

Colin Mace, Activities Coordinator

''I joined Baycroft Great Baddow over 5 years ago as one of the initial intakes of staff for the home.

During the first 6 months after opening, I spent a lot of time working downstairs, but as the home filled up with residents, I found myself working more and more in the kitchen where I was originally employed for.

I've always found it easy to build up relationships with the residents, have always loved having a laugh and a joke but also a serious and in-depth conversation when required. I believe in treating people as individuals, centring my interaction and relationships with them accordingly.

I enjoy both group and individual activities and catering to both the wants and needs of the residents. I believe I am a good communicate but I also can listen. This may be my first official role in the capacity as an activity’s coordinator, but I do have many years’ experiences of interacting and communicating with people from a wide range of social backgrounds.''

Lynsey, Home Administrator

''Hello, I’m Lynsey, I am the Home Administrator at Baycroft Great Baddow.

I worked in Care previously during Covid so the opportunity to join the team at Baycroft has been great and every day really is different.

Having had my own family members spend time in Care Homes, I know how important it is just to take a few moments out of your day to talk to someone, working at Baycroft gives the opportunity to do that every day.

I look forward to meeting more of the Baycroft community as I settle into my new role.''
